Wegovy 1 Skinny Pen

Wegovy (semaglutide) is an injectable prescription medicine used for weight management. It works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity to help with weight loss and long-term weight maintenance.

Key uses

• Cardiovascular protection: Helps reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events (heart attack, stroke, or death) in adults with heart disease and obesity or overweight.
• Weight loss: Assists adults and children 12 years and older with obesity, or adults with overweight and weight-related health issues, to lose excess weight and maintain it.
• Wegovy® should not be used with other Semaglutide products or GLP-1 receptor agonists.

How to take wegovy®

• Administer once weekly on the same day each week, at any time, with or without food.
• Wegovy® is available in 5 different doses ranging from 0.25 mg to 2.4 mg. Each dose is color-coded for ease of use.

Your healthcare provider will gradually increase your dose until you reach your maintenance dose.

Preparing for your wegovy® injection
Before administering your Wegovy® injection, ensure you have the following supplies ready:

• Your Wegovy® pen
• 1 alcohol swab or soap and water
• 1 gauze pad or cotton ball
• 1 FDA-approved sharps disposal container for used pens

Steps for injection

1. wash your hands
   Thoroughly clean your hands before preparing the injection.
2. check your wegovy® pen
   Inspect the pen to ensure it is in proper condition before use.
3. choose your injection site

• Recommended sites: upper legs (front of the thighs), lower stomach (at least 2 inches away from the belly button), or upper arm.
• Avoid injecting into tender, bruised, red, hard skin, or areas with scars or stretch marks.
• You can inject in the same area each week, but rotate the exact spot to avoid irritation.

4. clean the injection site
   Use an alcohol swab or soap and water to clean the injection site. Avoid touching the area after cleaning.
5. remove the pen cap
   Pull the pen cap straight off to prepare for injection.
6. inject wegovy®

• Press the pen firmly against your skin and apply pressure until the yellow bar stops moving.
• If the yellow bar doesn’t move, press the pen more firmly against your skin.
• You will hear two clicks:
  • Click 1: The injection has started.
  • Click 2: The injection is ongoing.

Troubleshooting

• If the injection doesn’t work, try a firmer injection site (such as the upper leg or upper arm), or stand while injecting into the stomach area.
• If medicine appears on your skin or squirts from the needle, next time make sure to apply pressure until the yellow bar completely stops before removing the pen.

After injection

• dispose of the pen:
  Safely dispose of your Wegovy® pen in a sharps disposal container or a sturdy household container with a tight-fitting lid (like a heavy-duty plastic container). Do not throw the pen away in regular household trash.

What to do if blood appears after injection
If you see blood at the injection site, gently press the area with a gauze pad or cotton ball.

Age considerations

• Approved for adults and children 12 years and older.
• Not yet confirmed to be safe or effective for children under 12 years.
